An interesting quote by Luther on Origen (as quoted in the essay by Judith Kovacs in the book mentioned below):

In toto Origene non est verbum unum de Christo.
"In all of Origen there is not one word of Christ."

Stephen C. Carlson said...: It's an undercount, but TLG lists 3263 instances of the word Christ in the Greek remnants of Origen's writings. I suppose one can also run a search on the Latin translations.; May 11, 2009 at 9:01 PM
J. L. Watts said...: I would say that Luther was being less than Literal here, meaning that Origen rather spoke of a false Christ, compared to the Christ of the NT. I would hardly compare Origen's Christ to Luther's.; May 11, 2009 at 9:04 PM
