The fact that the discourse follows the miracle in John 6 is no accident.

For more see here, especially point #7:
http://singinginthereign.blogspot.com/2007/06/this-sunday-we-read-account-of-miracle.htmlMichael Barberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09245959720626825944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8899950699213696889.post-77678930998344747692007-10-23T18:06:00.000-05:002007-10-23T18:06:00.000-05:00Brian,The Eucharist is not an either/or. Jesus doesn't nuance His teaching, He doesn't say, "Oh no, I don't mean it literally." Instead, He keeps it going. And why wasn't it challenged until the Reformation?

Obviously, I used to not believe in the literal presence, but I'm completely convinced now.Josh McManawayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03503876183620206761noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8899950699213696889.post-88813265643571862542007-10-22T23:05:00.000-05:002007-10-22T23:05:00.000-05:00I am with Zwingli, that the elements are symbolic ...I am with Zwingli, that the elements are symbolic of the body and blood of Christ. I also think Jesus is speaking figuratively (exaggerated hyperbole) rather than literally. I also think the eucharist should be a joyful not a somber event, necessarily.Brianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11912653730884160224noreply@blogger.com
